Studies have shown that in a typical Irish home, around one-third of the heat produced by a central heating system is lost through the roof, walls, doors and windows.
This means that for a poorly insulated property up to €1 out of every €3 spent on heating is being wasted.
So how can we prevent this expensive heat being lost from our homes?
Well there many simple temporary solutions which will minimise the heat loss, such as draught excluders and sealants around windows, brush strips under doors, and also the more obvious ones such as keeping windows and doors closed.
But a more effective and permanent solution would be the installation of an energy-efficient composite door. Composite doors have a higher thermal resistance than traditional timber or uPVC doors so they keep in the heat much more effectively. Not only will a composite door keep you warm in your home, in the long run it will save you money heating bills.
